Aleyda Rocha is an artist, researcher, cultural producer, and educator. Her work deals with the political, social, and cultural everyday practices of extractivism of data, bodies, experiences intrinsically linked with colonialism and the colonial project. She thinks about sound and movement as a philosophical toolset to reflect on unuttered histories and unearthed linkages, and as a poetic means to document our personal, ecological, and global scale struggles in the 21st century.

Dwelving from her positionality as an immigrant and her transborder experiences, she uses archiving, documentation, the internet, technology, and notably participatory performance, to challenge the dogmas of western society. Mostly, her work questions the contradictions and perceptions on labor, heritage, language, and their interwovenness with the voice and how it is an aesthetic as well as a political manifestation and performance of subjectivity and identity.
